As another baseball season comes to an end, most teams will measure their success based on wins and losses. They track the players batting averages, home runs, stolen bases, and many other statistics to see where they can improve. But in our league, Miracle League of the Triangle, we do it a little differently. We measure our success in the joy we bring to our players. We track smiles, laughs, life accomplishments, and tears of joy. Our players are special needs children and adults from around the Triangle. We provide a safe haven for them to learn, grow, and experience happiness through the game of baseball.
Our games offer something to everyone. The players get to play the game they love with their friends. The parents get time away from the challenge of being a special needs parent to just be a spectator for once. The volunteer “buddies” learn about serving others and grow as individuals. The fans learn there is more than a baseball game going on, it’s a game of life lessons. Most importantly, everyone is a winner.
