Safety Day 2024

Safety Day has been a Bland Landscaping Company tradition for over 30 years. We had only 1 location when we started this event, and now this 1-day training event takes place across 10+ locations over the course of a month.

Our CEO Kurt Bland has more to say about this event, its history, and its importance to our company:

A commitment to Safety is a key core value of our company’s 48 year history, and today was a great reflection of that commitment on display. —Kurt Bland

Apex Branch

Taking time for safety training is crucial, and this week, we dedicated time to safety training with our Apex Commercial Grounds Maintenance Team and the Triangle Team from Fosters Lake & Pond Management. We are committed to maintaining the highest safety standards to protect our hardworking crew and ensuring every team member goes home safely each day.

A big shout-out to the Apex Management Team for going the extra mile by preparing and serving a delicious lunch for our production teams. Your support and dedication are truly appreciated!

Charlotte Branch

Earlier this month, our Charlotte teams gathered to reinforce our commitment to safety in the field and beyond. Our management team proudly served lunch to our hardworking production crew, highlighting our dedication to their well-being and teamwork.

Durham Branch

It is so humbling every time I get to do this type of engagement with the branches:

  • We shut down operations and production in each branch
  • We teach and preach safety
  • We do hands on 🧯 P.A.S.S. training
  • Managers cook lunch for their teams
  • Branch Managers, Associate Branch Managers, Production Managers, Human Resource Managers, Recruiters, Regional Directors, Regional Operations Managers, and Account Managers all pitch in to execute the event using centrally developed curriculum
  • We teach about harassment and how to prevent it
  • We discuss hydration and heat stress avoidance
  • Everyone eats together for fellowship and team building
  • We do a raffle
  • We celebrate our victories
  • We talk about where we’ve been, where we are, and where we are heading
  • We have maintained this tradition for more than thirty years
  • 750: the number of people we will feed and train during these branch events

Our teams are the backbone of our business, and they deserve every minute of this day each year.

If you run a commercial landscaping business, and you are trying to get your head around how to execute this and the investment it requires, reach out to me and I will help you. Safety Day is one small piece of our Occupational Health and Safety Program, but it is a very important one.

Remember: Safety is no accident!

Greensboro Branch

This past week, our Greensboro team participated in an essential safety training session to ensure every member is equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their tasks safely and efficiently.

Wake Forest Branch

The Wake Forest team kicked off the day with a delicious breakfast from Bojangles, fueling up for a series of safety education and hands-on training sessions. Our team members engaged in practical exercises, reinforcing the crucial safety practices that keep us all protected on the job.

To wrap up the day, our management team prepared and served a hearty lunch, providing a perfect opportunity for everyone to relax and connect after a productive morning.

We’re proud of our Wake Forest team’s dedication to safety and their enthusiasm for continuous improvement.

Safety isn’t just a priority—it’s our culture.

We believe every employee should return home safe at the end of each day. Your well-being is our top priority, and we are committed to creating a safe working environment for everyone. Through ongoing training and support, we ensure that every member of our team is equipped to handle any situation with confidence and care.

Here’s to another step forward in keeping our valued employees safe and thriving!
