Graeme Slonaker, Business Development Specialist for our Foster Lake & Pond Management team, provides some insights for those interested in stocking trophy bass:
At first glance, many local anglers would be thrilled to catch bass like these. What often surprises people is that fish of this size are sometimes intentionally culled to create the conditions needed for true trophy bass to grow. Many people say they want 10-pound bass, but in reality, the largest bass they’ve ever caught is closer to 5–6 lbs. Producing and maintaining true trophy bass takes significant time, investment, and biological expertise.
At Foster Lake & Pond Management, we offer both recreational and trophy fisheries programs. Our goal, however, is to use our experience to identify what clients actually want to catch—not just what sounds good on paper. In many cases, that means saving money and getting anglers to their ideal fishery faster by avoiding the wrong management path.
If you’re considering a stocking or fisheries program and want clarity before committing, we’re always happy to help. After all, how bad can a conversation about BIG BASS be?
