Erosion doesn’t just look bad, it’s a liability.
Our aquatics division, Foster Lake & Pond Management, recently transformed this industrial site in Georgia using geotextile fabric and rip rap to stabilize soil, provide filtration, and reinforce drainage.
Foster’s construction team quickly outlines the project, from the initial problem to our solutions:
The stormwater runoff from the building and parking lot was flowing in an uncontrolled manner, causing erosion (soil loss) at the side slopes of the stormwater control measure (SCM). Our team was able to install two, Class-B rip rap channels to receive and slow the runoff. We regraded the surrounding areas to ensure the water would travel down the channel instead of hitting the non-armored areas of soil. We regraded and stabilized the areas that were eroded from the previously uncontrolled runoff. Additional bare areas at the SCM were seeded and stabilized with straw matting.
The photos below show the transformation from a structural risk to a solid foundation.
