Hi everybody, I’m Rachel. I’m the Eastern Regional Floriculturist at Bland Landscaping. I’ve been with the company for about two years, and today I’m going to kind of take you on one of our site visits.

This is one of our properties here in Morrisville that we’ve had for almost a decade. Something that makes Bland unique is that we are going to sites throughout the season—it’s not just a one-time visit.

We monitor for pests, fungal issues, any signs of disease, and general performance. We also like to stay on the forefront of horticulture trends and what new cultivars are coming out. So, I typically look to J.C. Raulston Arboretum’s trial gardens—a great resource in Raleigh, North Carolina—to see how it handles the beginning, middle, and end stages of plantings throughout the season. This provides real-life evidence to determine whether or not a plant will perform well in N.C.’s hot, humid conditions.

We take lots of detailed notes and photographs for our records so our teams can make informed decisions for the customer’s unique landscape needs.
