National Rain Day

July 29 is National Rain Day!

In the late 1800s, a pharmacist named William Allison from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania noticed a strange phenomenon. Every year, on July 29, it would rain. Due to this observation and strange phenomenon, he declared July 29 as National Rain Day. In celebration, Allison would record the amount of rainfall that occurred each year on this day. Rain Day’s story gained attention throughout Pennsylvania and eventually throughout the country. Rain Day is now a globally recognized event, as rain lovers from across the world can recognize the beauty and necessity of a good rainfall.
